Imagine grabbing a bacon cheeseburger at a fast-casual restaurant - not just settling for a cup of water.
Imagine a relaxing weekend away with a glass of red wine and a fairy romance novel—and not being anxious about your next meal.
Imagine meeting your colleagues at a random restaurant you've never been to before - and eating a delicious pasta carbonara.
And imagine being part of the group for once - instead of always feeling left out.
It's all possible when you trust yourself and harness the power of community.
If you’re reading this, you’re probably dealing with the same issues my clients faced post-diagnosis.
👉 You stress out trying to plan everything eating outside your house (Spontaneity? Don't know her.)
👉 Your heart races when it's time to talk to a restaurant server (Wait, they can't guarantee it's safe? Did I say enough? Am I annoying?)
👉 You find yourself getting so emotional with food (Crying in the bakery aisle of the supermarket while staring at the cupcakes, or getting mad at your husband bringing home dumplings from the Chinese restaurant!)
And the cherry on top of this gluten-filled cupcake you can't have is...
👉You're the only one doing this.
Your partner, family, and friends might be supportive of your new gluten-free diet.
But they don't really get what it's like eating this way.
That's because celiac disease is like being a star basketball player who's always on the bench, and never in the game.
You're at work -
You overhear a colleague who bought lunch for everybody. You get so excited about the possibility of free food, and think, "Maybe it's something I can have!"
....Until you get to the break room.
Sitting on the table are 3 boxes of pepperoni pizza.
Disappointed, your heart sinks as you take out the sad kale salad you brought from home.
Someone offers you a slice, and you say "No thanks", stabbing greens with your fork, feeling defeated.
You're out shopping...
You stop at Target to get a new moisturizer. Heading to checkout, you spot a group of teenage girls with Starbucks cups and pastries.
Then you remember those blueberry muffins you used to get that were your absolute favorite.
You'd grab one with your coffee every week before work on Fridays. And it took only seconds to order.
Suddenly, knowing you can't eat those muffins anymore, and how awkward you feel now just ordering a freaking coffee..
You feel jealous of these girls.
So you pay for your moisturizer and leave Target as quickly as you can, silently wishing you never stopped in the first place.
You're at home...
And your partner decided to get a Quizno's sub for dinner.
As they open the crinkly paper on the kitchen counter, you see an enormous sandwich on thick, toasted, gluten-filled bread...
You become irrationally angry.
You yell, "How could you?!" as your partner tries to reason with you that it's "Just a sandwich".
But it's not just a sandwich.
And you feel like this diet will never get easier.
Always being on the bench instead of playing in the game...
Always having to watch everyone else do things so easily that are 10x more complicated for you...
It adds up.
Because being left out around food doesn't happen to you once in a while.
These situations are happening to you every single day. Celiac disease isn't just avoiding wheat, barley, & rye (and oats, if you skip those too.)
It's a complete overhaul of how you interact in day to day life.
So if you're not doing something to balance that daily exclusion you encounter...
Then holding up the line to get a gluten-free bun, asking for no croutons on your salad, or even telling your uncle you can't have his "gluten-free" chocolate chip cookies..
All of these moments will only get harder.
You'll become more & more anxious that eating gluten-free is a bother to those around you.
Your anxiety will increase, and you'll find yourself saying "sorry" all the time.
Going out to eat anywhere will feel impossible, so you'll stay home.
You'll avoid birthday parties, family dinners, weekend trips - anything where food is involved, because it just feels too hard.
And you'll sink deeper into feeling sad & alone.
But you don't have to live this way.
Because here's the thing:
We get it. We do.
We know why the pizza in the breakroom hurts and why your salad feels so boring.
We get the jealousy of the Starbucks girls casually eating their blueberry muffins and buying coffee without having to ask a bunch of questions.
And we certainly have been angry with our partners for bringing home gluteny foods that we can't have (and asking them "Can I just smell it? Ha!")
Because we have celiac disease too.
And we understand you on a level your partner, friends, and family never will.
So if you're tired of celiac feeling so challenging -
But you want to get back out there in the world without this constant anxiety eating around other people...
To do things like...
Enjoy a bachelorette weekend...
Attend a spontaneous dinner party at a brand-new restaurant...
Go to a birthday party with ease..
Order food without freaking out..
Date someone new & feel good about it..
And even get back to pre-celiac levels of happiness & health..
Navigating your gluten-free life alone is keeping you stuck.
You're missing out on making delicious gluten-free MEMORIES. You're shrinking into the shadows instead of taking up space with PRIDE.
But it's time to break free.

Hey there, I'm Jen!
I'm a celiac coach, blogger & educator who has helped hundreds of celiacs speak up for themselves.
I spent over a decade suffering from anxiety & illness - all because my doctor told me "Just go gluten-free" back in 2009.
I had no clue back then how celiac would affect me not only physically, but mentally and emotionally too.
But as soon as I stopped worrying about what other people thought of my diet & found other celiac friends I could relate to...
I was able to heal my body, travel the world, and feel good in my own skin again. And I'm here to help you do that too.
